I have always heard a major rain event like we are having will cause dove to "move on" Any truth to this ?
It seems this rain has stayed North but what do the "experts" think?

Right after a rainstorm is when they hang on powerlines, its excellent scouting time

Before and after rain is always the best it seems. I've hunted storm fronts literally while it's misting outside in South Texas and done very well. Rain helps the game still at this point

During the drought we cleaned up around tanks. This year you better know a farmer with sunflower or milo.

My experience is that later in the season, with rain that proceeds cold fronts, the birds will move on south but that's part of the migration process. Rain can disrupt their daily patterns but home birds usually stay put as long as possible. Once things settle back down they show up.

We have had good for ground rain out west this year! May not be so good for dove, last few years by this time I could count 200 birds flying on one 20 mile stretch of road I drive. This year same stretch of road during prime time last week only saw maybe 15-20. I will still hunt and see how they fly but our country is you hunt tank or flyway! If rain has come through and water standing on caliche roads you are hosed. Very little farming and grain grown in my area.
Brayden (Lazy L's Southern Comfort) you will be missed! You were more than a pet you were my reason to rise and return for many days! You were my rock! 12/26/03-10/25/13
