Has anyone ever chronicled the dove migration around Abilene area? I know that right now there are natice doves in the area, after the first good cold front it will move them on and a new set of doves will take their place. Anyone have any idea about when that happens usually? I

Northern birds are usually coming in on a front around the 20th-30th of Sept. Have seen it a little earlier but not very often. This is my 18th year here in Breckenridge selling Dove hunts.

On our place in Runnels county, we plan on the first 2 weeks of September to enjoy spending the time with friends and relatives, we get serious about after that. On opening day and the first weekend, I may take my gun out of the case, but unless the birds are really flying, I let everybody else shoot.

I saw a ton of birds this weekend on my place. Not saying they were northern birds but they havent been here either. Strange timing but there were 100+ on a powerline

I have a place an hour north of Abiline and it's covered up in doves right now. This happened last year. It might be cause they harvested wheat a few weeks ago..?? I have another place in Turkey which is 2more hours north west. There are very noticeably more dives there since late May.
Maybe this early they are moving a bit due to harvests and crops available. I'm positive there are more doves since May so there is some movement

I've got some property in Archer County just south of Wichita Falls and we're seeing them come through as well. Let's hope the weather is favorable for us for two more months. - Kyle PrimeFirst Inspections

Last weekend I drove through Woodson/Throckmorton and then was on a ranch just north of Haskell for a day... Dove were very plentiful. Surprising actually.

yep, we all get so excited about seeing birds now but as Stompy says, you really don't know till sunrise on the September 1 what will happen.. sure is fun speculatin though... But, with all the timely rains out West, and guys who prepare their property specifically for dove shooting. its looking good so far

Driving around Kyle, TX yesterday I saw a hatchling dove walking across a road. Good to know some are having a second batch.
I'm ready for puddin's countdown.
