Monday morning, 20mi. south of Sheffield, my friend, the lease "manager" and myself, drove out in the drizzle following the front coming across, to check all the deer feeders we'd started and that the other 2 members had filled, and correct any mistakes we found. I'd had the Beretta in the truck for doves, but that wasn't going to happen in this weather. Coming up to the first "head dam" (aka pond/tank"), the dang thing was covered in blue wings. I opened my TPWD app on my phone and realized that the season ended...yesterday. Plus, no steel shot in the truck --- that would be two citations. After that, we saw them on every head dam and circling quite a few ridges. Note to self for next year.
...and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Gen. 1:28

I saw a group of about 50 east of Uvalde, headed south late mon. evening... when I was a youngster all we ever saw was maybe a few coots stop over on a tank... now it's nothing to see mallards here west of SA.... heck, Ive seen a couple of cans on my creek and even had a cinny drake stay on the tank by the pens for a couple weeks
