We are headed on a SG hunt near Watertown SD this coming weekend. Anyone ever been up there for a hunt?
Ive never been to SD.
The crew we are going with is Northern Skies Outfitters. Ever heard of them?

I hunt around that area every year. This year the migration was early as we killed many birds the last week of Feb into March. I have a buddy that lives up there and I know from him that there are few birds around....most are in north North Dakota and well into Canada for the past 3 weeks. I have no info on the outfitter as we are do it yourself type of guys. I hope that the outfitter is willing to move/hunt other states to get you on the birds. Please report back how you do and good luck!

Well our hunt started out COLD COLD COLD. It was close to 23 degrees and snowing when we started Saturday morning.
Saw thousands of birds but couldn't get many to commit to coming into the spread. Saturday we ended up only shooting a few, but man they had us covered up all morning. Most of the birds had moved down from ND as expected with the front. I did end up getting my first snow ever.
Sunday was complete opposite. It was 32 when we got in the field and bluebird skies. Not a cloud in site. We didn't even have any snows attempt to come into the spread. We did have a flight of specks attempt to land. I think we could have caught them in a net as close as they were to us. I wish it would have been speck season. Those geese are beautiful birds. 2016-2017 I WILL be killing a speck somewhere!
Our guides were top notch and tried everything they could to get more birds to come in, but mother nature just wouldn't work out with us.
We will be booking an Arkansas trip for early February next year with the same outfit.
There is really nothing like having that many birds around you flying in. It was an awesome trip!
I kept one snow and took to Avian Art in Frisco on my way back through to Nacogdoches. I've never met Pat until yesterday. He welcomed me to his shop and we talked for a while. He has been doing taxi work for about 25 years I think is what he said to me. I'm super excited to get my mount back. He said this was a busy year for him and it will be about a year before its ready, but as long as it turns out like we talked about and looks as good as some of the birds he had in the shop I have no problem with that.
Sorry if I went rambling on... Overall it was an awesome trip with my bother, dad and a couple of buddies that I will never forget. I would highly recommend anyone taking a goose hunting trip if you never have.
