What is the actual written law about picking up your ducks and geese after you shoot them? Does it have to be done immediately? I can't find it written anywhere. If there is a rule on it, can someone please post it?

Straight from TPWD website...
A reasonable effort must be made to retrieve any killed or wounded birds and any wounded bird retrieved must be immediately killed and made a part of the bag limit. After retention, the birds must be kept in an edible condition.

You need to immediately retrieve your birds, you will inevitably wound birds and they need to be dispatched quickly. I use my dog to retrieve my birds, nothing like watching them work.

Right, I saw that it mentioned immediately going after wounded birds. But I couldn't find anything on when you have to pick up your dead birds.

It does not say to immediately pick them up.

It says to immediately kill um if they are wounded.

You have 3.5 minutes to retrieve birds.

We pick up geese in between flights, wait until we don't see any flying and then do it quickly. We shoot to kill so no wounded ones......
