My last hunt was a skunk session during the dove split. Busy with work since then. So today when the wife said "wow you look depressed you should go hunting" I did not hesitate.

30 minutes later, about 1pm i was the only guy on public looking to jump shoot the river for a close out...not seeing any ducks so i settled for coots. About 3.5 miles and nine coots later i bagged some teal, two loners. Another two miles later and it was Mallards'r'us! All told one gwt drake, one bwt hen, two greenheads, a hen mallard and a hen mexican duck. Plus 11 coots total, not that coots count for jack, except weight on the strap for a LONG walk back to the truck. Had i started further up it would have been a shorter day, but i got got to cover some miles and pull a lot of trigger with a good ending!

What you going to do with them?

They make great dog food, and btw good shoot.

I make 'heavily seasoned' taco meat with the coots. As long as you clean them soon after dispatch they are ok. I've learned the hard way from waiting too long to clean them that they go very bad very fast.
