Ok boys, were having such a great time duck hunting this year (first year) I'm getting the frame of mind to build a boat. One of my son's is a welder....well thats the field of work he desires......don't ask but I support him. He is accomplished in steel but aluminum he still needs to learn. I'm owner of a metal roofing company. I figure with his welding and my sheet metal experience, an aluminum duck boat is doable. I'm looking at issues right now like coast guard compliance, plans, etc. Were in the Dallas area so anybody thats been there and done this I'd like some advice on getting started. I know what I basically want....open design and big enough for 4 people and gear. Not hunting out of the boat, transporter only but needs to cross lakes when have to.
