How is the hunting there in general? My father in law is trying to convince me to go down there on a hunt.

Where does he want to go?

I'm pretty sure that the access to the lake down there is all private. At one point the goose hunting was great but unsure if it still is.

A friend of his has some land leased down there. It is private. Just wondering about the general numbers of ducks there. He said they kill lots of geese.

We leased down there for three years on a club and all three years, generally more ducks were killed over a field spread goose hunting than over a decoy spread hunting water.

Thanks David. I'd like to go on a hunt that will give me some techniques I can use back home. Field hunting is not going to happen.

I still can't figure out what the deal is. My FIL said his friend has a bunch of land leased, but they charge $150 a day to hunt, but it's not guided?

Sounds pretty simple.
Dads friend paid money to lease land, and makes money back, or over, by doing unguided day hunts.

Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden.
Experience is what you get, when you didn't get what you wanted.

Just wondering if he is a lease member or he alone leases the property.

I've lived in Columbus all my life and guided on the prairie for 11 years now.

You say Columbus, but are you really meaning Garwood? Eagle Lake?

There are only 2 or 3 fields in the town of Columbus that will hold geese.

Shoot me a message and we can talk more.

I'd bet that I know the land your dad has leased.

Maybe I can be of some help.
