A larger more square-ish plot of soybeans for spring summer use, or multiple long strips about 10-20 feet wide but stretching around the edge of the tree lines for about half a mile? Thinking if I had the same amount of coverage by acreage the deer might prefer having smaller strips with travel passage in between the strips.

Any experience with that concept?

I don't but I know they will tear up some soybeans. Bavarian grows a lot of soybeans in white oak bottom and there is always a ton of animals out there.

It all depends on rain. I’ve tried lab lab, soybeans, etc. never made it later than June.

The long strips would be better- whitetail deer are edge creatures and the more edge the better.

^^^This, given the choice, they like less than a 100 yards or so from cover, longer strips up

Tried both when I had a lease in Llano. Strips had more visits and more consistently. lab-lab never lasted for me until June. Mainly did fall plantings except for turnips and some peanuts. Hogs found those and kept things torn up and we would just plant winter wheat in late September or so. Then pray for rain.
