I have been doing some research on these packages sold by Jager, Goin Fencing, and BoarBuster, etc.. Checking in with y'all to see if you have firsthand experience with set up, longevity, and overall effectiveness of the traps. Spending 6-7K for a kit is a substantial amount of money if the camera only lasts for a year or two. Again would really like to have better understanding on this before taking the plunge.

Also some seem to come with just an auto trap door that you attach to your paneled area. Anyone have experience with the traps that are fully lifted compared to the auto gate?

Fully elevated traps will be more effective. They’ll also get results quicker. But you’re adding failure points, and they’re a lot higher. A wireless gate, with panels is the best balance I think. ONLY if you have svc to run it...... if you’ve got marginal svc, don’t risk it. We’ve got lots of spots that they’re useless because of it . You’ll just end up with an expensive feed pen

Jager is only one I’ve got experience with. Quality was good . Hope this helps

That’s true. They all have their pros and cons. They only work as good as the cell phone signal you can get in the area you’re trapping and they’ll eat batteries if they don’t receive enough sunlight on the solar panel.

Boy you ain't kidding on this statement!!! Don't expect to only go out there once and then the next time you go out there you will have a pen full of pigs either haha. if the trap network goes down or gets upgraded (Cough cough) how are you supposed to know to go out there and reset the unit. that alone has cost me $1,000's.

PM sent, question for the group who have used these, might seem like a stupid question but I am low on the trapping experience level, after you trap a sounder, if you have different sounders coming through the same area is it as simple as resetting the trap or do you get better results moving the trap after every catch?

No joke. A trip to go hit a reset button or replace a battery will make me madder than, you know.

Me personally don’t move a trap unless I absolutely have to. It’s a lot of work taking one down and putting one up. 6-8 60” panels with T~posts and a door mechanism while you sweat to death being sucked dry by mosquitos? No thank you.

Build a good quality “feed” pen. Set it up in a good location with a feeder in it and you’ll catch hogs all year round. Travel routes near water.
