Nothing gets me more excited than sneaking up close on a group of hogs and shooting a hog on the run. This video has both! Hiked a few hundred yards through the thick woods to find this small sounder. Each step in the thick brush that I took, I can remember saying to myself. Dear Lord, please don't let me step on a Copperhead snake...

Do they show up on Thermal or NV ?
Seeing more & more people hunting with NV & Thermal... Always, did it after deer season was over, but it is a Blast...

Thank you! I'm not sure if snakes show up on thermal, that's a good question... I'm convinced that I'm going to get bit by a snake, it's only a matter of time..

Snakes do not show up well on thermal, I certainly doubt most could detect a large snake with thermal.

That said, there are given moments when the temps and environmental conditions do produce a chance at seeing a snake but it isn't a guarantee.

So

1) snakes aren't invisible to thermal


2) nor are they readily identifiable (hot spot)

I appreciate the info. I always wondered about that but never found a snake to test it on.

snakes are considered cold blooded, was just currious... Never wore the snake chaps when coon hunten or the night hunts for hogs..
First time hunted at night, new ta lease, their was an old lean to stand roughly 40yrds off atv trail... sat in it, nothing happened... Got down & angled with flash light off heading twards atv trail further away from truck...
Its a compleatly different world with out light, hit briars go around, more briars, did recons at night, so know few tricks.. Never did find atv trail.. got stuck in thick briar all around... Turned on flashlight, it didnt work, so had to back track..
Next morning went to area, the atv trail had a right bend in it, reason didnt find it.. Walking out on atv trail almost stepped on water moccossen, jumped drew pistal fired off 5 rounds before feet hit ground... Missed, ... Was the shakest gun in trying ta reload...
WMA see moccasens, coperheads, & several other types... Miss it, would rather be out thar than watching vid.... Thanks for sharing, as pappy says: when ya huntsolo, your memories die with ya .. Stay Safe...

so do stingray guards if you are a wadefishermen. That is what I wear in the field if snakes are a thought.
