Went out with my buddy who owns property in Lee County Tuesday evening. We haven't been seeing hogs on a regular basis lately. We suspect that the moderate winter and spring rains have provided plenty of food and water, thus the hogs aren't finding it necessary to wander far. On that evening however, as we viewed a pasture where we have frequently seen hogs in the past, a sounder of roughly a dozen strolled into view about a half-hour before sundown. We moved along a fence line that has quite a few trees and brush to an opening roughly 70-80 yards from the hogs. My buddy told me to go ahead and shoot, so I counted down and nailed a boar that weighed a little over 200 Lbs. He took a shot at a running hog and put a bullet through both hindquarters! We were both shooting 150 grain Hornady SP bullets in .308 caliber.

The hog was quartering away from me, so I put the bullet slightly behind the left shoulder. The bullet was recovered just under the shield on the other side, having completely penetrated the right shoulder. As recovered it weighed 129 grains. It was together when found but the pieces separated as I attempted to clean it up a bit.

Because my buddy's hog was so shot up we simply donated it to the Turkey Buzzard Preservation Society and went on our way. Two more hogs down!

I have two unwritten rules:
1.
2.

Great job. I shooting the same ammunition in one of my 308s. Quality ammo that doesn't break the bank.
