Got to go hunting with a vet buddy of mine. We spotted this boar way off in the field and made a long stalk on it. The brightness of the pre-Supermoon was NOT helpful in the open terrain. We stopped in the shadow of a tree to set up out shot. The opening salvo was at about 125-150 yards, hitting the boar, and the boar took off running. We finally dropped him at just over 250 yards and the boar tried to get up again! Another round of shots kept him down for good.

The only downside to the night was that the farther you stalk, the farther you have to retrieve the hog! Fortunately, we had a cart and the ground wasn't too soft or rooted-up and we were able to extract the hog without too much difficulty.

Good job; well done! You DO need to be careful about where you drop 'em! Thinking about the long haul our can sometimes change your mind.

When mule deer hunting in Colorado and Utah, for instance, dropping a "trophy" across a canyon, with no way to get to him after the shot, has caused me to pass on a couple of pretty nice animals!

Getting old ain't nearly as much fun as everybody said it would be.

Good job Brian!! You are right about the length of the stalk and the length of the drag!! Mud makes thing a lot worse.

How heavy you think he was?

Nice going. Yep, having a cart makes the hog hauling a lot easier.

Keep after 'em!
