Wouldn't you want more expansion to increase the distribution of the kinetic energy into the body vs. just a penetrating pass thru.....unless you are shooting 4 or 5 hogs all lined up....

These bullets expend their energy by diverting the hydrostatic pressure outward in a spiral pattern with the flutes machined onto the tip. It supposedly gives the best of both worlds, lots of hydrostatic shock like an expanding bullet but it penetrates like a solid. I've never tried them but I'm thinking of trying a few in my .357 on a porcine target.

I'd like to see how it works on Ballistics Gel to actually see what is happening in slow motion and also a couple of postmortems on actual animals to see how "effective" they are.....interesting design for sure....

There is one on Youtube. That's what got me interested. I'll see if I can find it.

Actually, that's not the one I'm thinking of. I'll find it.

Thanks for posting.....interesting for sure....don't think I would want it as a carry round.....
I'd like to see how it would perform in .45 ACP.....little bigger and slower.....maybe not too much penetration as with the 9mm

from my perspective that's a terrible bullet and I wouldn't allow it on any land I have control over - most places that we have hogs we also have cattle as well and the massive over penetration is a risk... and I don't know if the guy in the video doesn't' load well or if the bullet contributes to poor consistency but the equally massive SD/ES makes it even more unpredictable.
Hogs are not water buffalo, they fall down pretty easily with 308's, 6.5, 7's, 6's and dare i say with some .223's... 20mm uranium tipped mortar rounds are unnecessary.

no they don't - not to the extent that the video showed on those rounds which were full and intact to the point they joke about being able to reload them. In the video you posted you can see when it exits the gel it's already a deformed mushroom of lead and will lose velocity and energy very rapidly. Next time you post a video to support your claim, make sure it doesn't show how wrong you are.

here it is on entry, I marked it so you can see it clearly. It's the thing labeled "so pointy"

I have never figured out why folks think blowing apart fruit is demonstative of anything other than blowing apart fruit. Lots of rounds will spectacularly blow apart fruit, but that doesn't mean they are what you want for hunting unless you are hunting fruit. Show me ammo that will blow apart a hog like that, and then let's talk. Otherwise, that is just wasted watermelon.

I don't know why you got to have monster round or special rifle to kill a stinking hog, killed 100's with my little 243 or 308 and heck alot with a bow. It's shot placement with anything.
