We'll with it being so hot, hunting through the night is the way to beat the heat. Got to the property yesterday and my West side feeder was jammed up with the top strip from a bag of corn and the camera was not working for some reason. Seen a few tracks but not much and not sure how long it had been since it stopped throwing corn. East feeder and camera working well but not a single hog for the past week.. My middle spot with no feeder or camera showed a little activity but not promising. Drove all this way so of course I was still gonna hunt. Sat at West feeder all night but only had one deer come in at 5:00am. My buddy Sat at the field just north of me where we noticed some recent activity. He had deer running around all night but no hogs. At day break I decided to take the AR and walk up to the highest spot on the property to see if I could intersect some hogs and that is exactly what happened. Just about to give up for the morning. I heard some rustling about 70 yards away. Saw some movement and thought it was just a racoon but decided to get closer to inveatigate. As as I took about 10 steps I realized it was a hog. Then I noticed another then another then realized I was in the middle of a sounder. I had eyes on 4 hogs and they were all scattered about 30 yards apart and making there way right to me. Heard a few more hogs in the valley grunting that I could not see and was trying to wait on them to come out were I could see them but the hogs nearest to me were litleraly a few yards away and I had to start shooting before they knew I was there. Dropped 3 in short order that were close to me and one went over the ridge before I could get a shot off. Then the hogs that were in the valley came shooting out about 130 yards away and I missed the big Sal but dropped a good size boar and the 4th Sal. Shot 9 shells and 7 of them ended up connecting. My best day yet, 5 hogs total. They are quartered and on ice. Gonna stay out again tonight and hopefully connect with a trophy or a couple more eaters.

Yep me and my buddy made quick work of them. Luckily as soon as they were shot (just before sunup) we went straight to cleaning. Anything I shoot early in the evening this time of year goes straight to the bone yard. Plenty of hogs and no need to take any chances. We don't have a setup for cleaning hogs at night. So this time of year if it is shot in the morning then it goes in the cooler.

After checking the spots we didn't hunt last night. We quickly found that they had come in heavy at both spots last night. So hopefully they repeat their pattern and we connect with with a few more. Only have one free ice chest left. So hopefully we fill it.

Great shooting. Four out of a sounder, for single shooter, is outstanding!

We all need to practice Whoa more.

Nak it was 5 total. Didn't end up seeing a darn thing last night. Had some come in at the spots we didn't sit at. Not too disappointed, plenty of meat to process. I'm tired

That's a dream come true right there.

I wish I had property to come down to, spend a night of hard work, and end up walking into a nice sized sounder.

Then stack'em high and fill the freezer. wow!

Good job!

Way to stick it out! Glad it paid off for u. Good luck next outing.

Fast paced gregarious society forgets the healing power of solitude. It's worked thousands of years. Casting a line/gazing into a campfire/sitting in a blind after a long week is medicine for the soul. The serenity and peacefulness of it all is majestic.
