Hi everyone. I'm new here. Never hunted before. I am a decent shooter with military BG.
I would like to try and hunt hogs and coyotes.
Problem is, I am limited in time with a new baby. So I need something close to N. Dallas.
Where do I start?
My friend suggested sharing a lease with someone who hunts Deer only. Is that even an option?

Good place to start would be a decent outfitter in your area. Some outfitters offer military discounts so check out the outfitter section in the forum. Second place would be public land which is tough hunting but you can refine your skills by looking for hog signs. If you have a buddy with a lease go out with him prior to deer season and see if you can connect on some hogs. Good luck, be prepared to become obsessed with hog hunting!
A real hunter never returns empty handed. Spending time in the wilderness temporarily satifies the soul, but leaves us longing for more.

My experience with 4 Pines Ranch in Mexia, TX has been wonderful. My group and I have gone the last two years and Matt the owner is a really great guy and will take care of you. His hunting set up for free range is top notch and all the blinds are well taken care of. He also has an 80 acre fence section that is new and has tons of hogs. This place is not too far from Dallas and prices are reasonable.
