When I hit 45 y/o back in August, I made the decision to get back in shape. I had put some weight back on and was at about 210 lbs. Since, then I've been working with a trainer at one of those national chain gyms, eating mainly protein and veggies, and doing cardio 3-4 times a week. I'm at 182 lbs now. I don't have much fat. Abs are peaking out but not fully visible.

My progress has slowed and I'm wondering if, at my age, if this as good as I am going to be able to get? I can be dedicated to working out and I don't mind bringing intensity but I have lingering joint issues that prevents me going too heavy with weights. I would like to take muscle mass up and get growth in my chest. My trainer seems to want to focus on posture and fat burning. I think the program the chain teaches them focuses on that. Any recommendations? I'm thinking of changing gyms and trainer for the next six months now that I have my weight back down.

You'll hit a plateau as your body reaches homeostasis w/your new program. You'll need to change up your exercise routine & eat more to gain more muscle mass. You have to keep changing up your program to keep the body guessing/changing. You've made great process since August so keep up the good/hard work!

Very true. I'm a big fan of Jim stoppani supplements and his programs. Check it out.

You've lost the majority of excess fat. Congrats! Now you just need to continue looking for what takes any remaining fat cells away. It does get more difficult as you approach your optimum weight and BM for your frame.

Once again ... congratulations !!! cheers

You need to change your training focus.

May need to switch trainers and do more of a bodybuilding routine
