Because, cleavers are for sissies. USA Drop Forged, Asymmetric head - Final Bevel and an octagon American Hickory handle are next.

Why would you not use a cleaver? Even the pros do!

Why would you not use a cleaver? Even the pros do! I definitely see the value of having a "hatchet" when field dressing and field work.....but prefer a cleaver when finishing things up.....since I don't currently have a hatchet, this sissy hippy will stick with my cleavers...... If I go camping I'll take a hatchet and a camp knife....

I have some cleavers I forged I'd rather use than a hatchet. Chops like a hatchet and slices where a hatchet can't. just saying

Cleavers are superior for most, if not all food preparation tasks. My humor is dry and I rarely take things seriously unless the task at hand requires it. And, this forum does not require much.

I have some ancient cleavers that I've picked up at estate sales. I seldom use them but will always buy another one if I see it. I think I have a hatchet somewhere but if wood has to be cut, I generally just drag out one of my small chain saws. I'm kinda lazy.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.
