I like the red spacers in the handle. They set off the mesquite quite well.

This knife blade was cut from an old lawn mower blade using a right-angle grinder and a cutting wheel. After a crude cut I use a grinding wheel on the right-angle grinder to get closer to my line. Then its multiple hours on a belt sander to finalize the shape, sand the top surface and ultimately shape the bevels. Heat treatment is next when I heat the blade in my home-made paint-can kiln to cherry red before it gets the dunk in vegetable oil. After sanding to remove the fire damage the mesquite blanks are formed to a consistent thickness and attached to the blade with epoxy and pins. After a 24 hour drying the handle is shaped using the same belt sander and occasional oscillating sander.
Hope that helps, BBQFAN5909.
