Just wondered if any one went on this hunt back in Nov. or Dec? Never did see anyone report on it. I put in for it, but was not drawn.

I also am wondering how that hunt went. I work right down the road and was hoping to draw it. There are a lot of axis around there.
I am also curios about Government Canyon results.

From my understanding this year was the first ever hunt on this park and the park has never been open to the public. I am sure there has to be some big deer on the place, due to the fact that it has not been hunted recently and the fact that it is nearly 4k acres. Makes me wonder if the hunt ever took place...........

I used to see a lot of deer driving by it but not in the last few years. It looks like one big hilly cedar brake.

I'd Ck the TPW archives for this Hunt Site & by Hunt Category, until the info is posted.

Ungawa, I still haven't heard about how the hunting went, but I might stop and ask the next time I see someone drive out of there.

I just talked to the manager over there.
He said that the youth hunt was a bust. He figured the kiddos were looking for big bucks and they didn't get anything.
The next two weekends there were 13 deer shot. 9 bucks and 4 does. None of the bucks were anything great. There was a ten pointer but he was pretty small.
The overall success rate was 87%.
He said that the deer density in the area is pretty low, but vegetation is good.
The only exotics that have been seen is two fallow bucks, they have only been seen once.
The entire place is HFed (I didn't know that). But the water gaps are busted up and the deer come and go through there.
He also said that it will probably be antlerless only next year.

Thanks Simple Searcher. I did not know it was high fence either. I wonder if it was high fence when the Kronksoky family owened it or if the state put the high fence in. Thanks again.
