What all do you bring with you? I’m thinking about scouting for spring turkey out at LBJ grasslands. Never really scouted before on public land, so curious what y’all take with ya when you go.

When scouting, carried a Garmin legand, with pen & the pocket size not book. Wrote down grid quardenance of all interests found. Also carried my camera, & just enjoyed the time spent.
Each has their own preference. Best wishes.

Binoculars, phone, water, compass, GPS with extra batteries, map if possible, and if required orange hat and vest. Sometimes I will carry a small stool in case I have a place I want to sit and watch for a while.

If possible bring a friend or family member to share the experience with. This second set of eyes is often invaluable in helping spot game while driving.

As a safety precaution when I leave the vehicle, I text a family member or friend about where I will be heading to when I take a walk about.

Luck favors the prepared mind.

I've hunted and killed many a turkey on LBJ and Caddo. LBJ...I would like to think a man could not get lost there even if he tried! Small parcels to hunt Imo. Take some water and snacks, bino's are a must after water. Map of area and your phone and if your body has to go TP.

Keep it light and simple you will never be to far from your vehicle on LBJ.
