Has anyone had any luck hunting in the Sabine National Forest between Pineland and Brookeland?

I deer hunted the Sabine with no luck. There hunter success rate is about 20% which is not real good. Better than nothing though

I have a lease in this area. Actually stayed in the KOA in Brookeland the last two times out since the weather's been so bad. I can tell you on our lease (in Bronson) the deer have been very nocturnal. If we have 1000 pics on camera from 3 weeks, there will be 1 or 2 of deer, and all at night. The rest are hogs, also all at night. We've spoken to a few people in the area who were very open and candid about poaching, shooting young deer, shooting them year round, and one guy bragging about shooting 22 deer off our lease (not a member) last year just this weekend. The local population, at least those I've chatted with, are pretty open about this - speak almost braggadociously about it. Not sure about this specific National Forest, but know that for sure the folks I've talked to dont seem to mind poaching and wouldnt assume that changes in the national forest vs private lands they feel free to use.
