Just a quick question. I've been looking around and a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number of scopes for AR-10. I was wondering if anyone had everyone thought the best scope for AR-10 would be.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

How far out are you wanting to connect shots?

And what kind of budget are you planning to spend?

What are you planning to do with the rifle? There are so many different scopes because there are many uses for a gun.

If he�s like most of us, he intends to put it in his safe and never shoot it.

Top question IMO. If it's to hunt deer & hogs in TX, I'd use the same scope you have on your favorite deer bolt rifle - if that's applicable.

The best scope will be the one that fits your needs.

the best scope is going to be something like a schmidt bender or swarovski and I am sure there are a few I have never heard of in the several thousand dollar range.

These are the best scopes for any rifle.

Hogs and deer on an AR10 leaves tons of scope possibilities. Maybe a 1-8 from Nightforce, Swaro or other or a 3-9 or even a 3-15.

There are literally thousands of different applications.

If it were me I would get a Nightforce ATACR 1-8

It covers every hunting situation you would probably ever come across. never underestimate the use of a true 1 power scope. That can make close quarters and quick acquisition shooting very easy over a minimum 3 power scope.

I put a Vortex HST 4x16x44 with Burris P.E.P.R mount on my P308 and love the set-up. Incredibly clear, great in low light, mount maintains zero, and the warranty is superb from what I have heard (never had to use it). Its a tac driving machine.

I've been so busy that I finally got back to this post today. Anyways, I was looking for a scope that is ideal for Mid-to-Long-Range and the budget was around $400 - $700. I spoke with a couple of fellow hunters and they told me the best scope for Ar-10 for my specific requirements would be the Nikon M-308 4-16x42mm. Also, I've been reading a couple of scope blogs and one that I found really interesting had a blog post about choosing a rifle scope. After giving that a read, I felt more confident buying the Nikon M-308. Just placed an order and will update this post about what I think about the scope.
