Anyone use one? Seems people love it or hate it. I think the concept of wind dots is interesting. In theory it seems to make sense. If you think there is 8mph wind hold second dot. If you think there is 14mph hold,3.5 dots.

I wonder if the theory holds true in practice. I think there is a distance at which it makes sense, but beyond that you need to dial adjustments.

One interesting benefit I heard about it (as with any holds) is you don’t have to worry about turret tracking sliping. As long as your zero stays true, you should be good with holds

I've programmed my brain for 1/10 Mil below the hundred yard mark, per 5 mph.

400, .3 Mil
500, .4
600, .5

When I "think" it's a 7-8 mph wind, I add 50%

When I think it's a 10 mph wind, I double.

12-13 mph wind, double + 50%

14-16 mph wind, triple.

So I'm numbers, that build from the 5 mph values. No Tremor for me.

so that’s an interesting approach. I think it allows you to be more flexiable as you can use any distance. I think once you get high cycles of repetition it will become second nature.

I was checking the ballistics calculator and that method holds for a pretty good distance.

One thing I think that hurts the tremor reticle is that your ability to precisely aim goes down as you are farther. For example if you have 5.7 mil drop your wind dots are at 5.5 and 6 line you do not have a fine point to aim with

Took thousands of rounds fired, and just as many spotted, to get REALLY comfortable with judging wind, based on what I see, then going to those numbers. But I am no master at it.

I am forever a student of the wind. Judging it is difficult enough, I like a hard number to hold, based on what I see.

I really only need 3.0 Mils of reticle elevation below center. Beyond that, and I am taking 1 second to dial elevation. The Horus, Christmas Tree, Whore House reticle is not the only option, with an elevation turret on the top of the scope.

And I think that is the problem is you need high cycles. The tremor automate some of that to an extent.

But agree on studying the wind. My plan is to take my win meter around with me and constantly be measuring

The busy-ness of those reticles honestly bothers me. Could I learn to use it? Yeah, I could, but I'm happier with a standard mil-mil-type reticle with good hashes.

Nothing wrong with that, but I don't even use one anymore. The wind where you are standing can be totally different at the target. My eyes are my wind meter. And if it is low wind (under 10 mph) the focus knob is turned to make the target blurry, and get a read on mirage. Mirage will tell you wind direction, and with practice, wind speed up to 10 mph. After 10 mph the mirage all looks the same.

Say your focus knob labeled 500 yards is in fact making a clear sight picture at 500 yards. Turn the knob for a 100 yard shot. The target will be blurry, but the mirage will appear. That, coupled with grass, bushes, and trees is what I use to read wind. Whem I'm teaching, I call wind holds by the second. And when it is a head or tail wind, it will switch left-right, a second or 5 later, right-left. Give me a 10 mph cross wind any day!

Bushnell G-2 is my favorite for pure holds. All based on .5 Mil, and not too busy. The fastest I've ever ran my range, 200 to 800, in 100 yard increments was with that reticle. 7 distances in 50 seconds.

The Bushnell is pretty good. I wouldn't mind this one

This, however, is insane.

I like the g2 as well. I have one on my Xrs. I saw the new dmr 2 pro was released. My issues is the scope weighs 40 ounces...

So apparently there is a lawsuit between accuracy first because they have a very broad patent and are going after Leopold for the cch reticle

The manufacturer that could build an FFP Mil/Mil reliable turret, capped windage scope, and come in under 24 ounces will sell em like hot cakes. I was hopeful with the NF SHV, nope, still heavy.

Under 30 ounces

Pst 2 3-15- optically it’s great for the money. But turrets aren’t the greatest and don’t lock
Mark 5- optically good/ locking elevation turret but bad reticles
Atacr 4-16- optically great. No locking elevation but wind cap and good reticle
Amg 6-24- optically great. Locking turrets and good reticle

I think something like a 4-16 Vortex AMG would be unreal. Their 6-24 is around 30 oz if I remember right.

edit: cleric beat me to the punch on the AMG

I run an h59 which is a t3 minus the wind dots. The dot values are time of flight based so they vary with different rounds. Also the values change if you dial elevation in. So one would need to keep that in mind.

One thing I'd advise is look at the reticle in the scope manufacturer you're planning on getting. I say this because I looked through a uso with an h59 and the stadia subtensions seemed huge and I hated that. On my Schmidt it seems very thin compared and why I love it..... I'll add that I do have a premier with a gen 2XR reticle similar to the g3 jason posted and it works 99% of the time for me except on small targets that's where those .2 mil subtensions are super handy.

I have read a mid range was in the works but they were struggling with the 6-24 demand

Get behind an amg before buying. Eye box is tight.

I've got one on loan right now - that's not really been my impression, at least in comparison to my SWFA 5-20 HD. Maybe compared to some other high-end stuff in the same price range as the AMG?

I have heard that the Razor Gen 2 eyebox is better, but I haven't tried one of those to know. Was hoping to find someone in the DFW area with a Minox ZP5 I could look at to compare this AMG to. The ZP5 seems like the perfect scope on paper, but you never know really what you're going to like until you see it in person.

ETA: All in all, the AMG is a ridiculously nice scope IMHO. The turrets have great feel and a nice locking feature. Zero stop and illumination are good. Reticle is decent, not my favorite but better than most others. The optical clarity is awesome, better than some more expensive scopes that I've looked through (looking at you Kahles). Hard to find too much fault with it, especially given the size and weight. My biggest complaint by far is how busy the reticle is.

It was far less forgiving than others. I will say I've never been behind a swfa so I got 0 comparison there but compared to a gen 2 it was easily noticed.

Get behind a schmidt 5-25 or premier/tangent 5-25 the minox is basically the same optic design all built/designed by the optronika guys. They fixed the tunneling that the Schmidt does below 7x. Glass is a wash between the 3 as to tell a difference is really splitting hairs. The mr4 reticle is tits though. Last I heard was they picked up a mil contract for the 5-25 with the mr4 so might be a while before they are stateside again.
