How cool is this ! The ability to range your target AT NIGHT with onscreen readout



I recently was provided an opportunity to handle and pull down some video from one of Pulsar's new and exciting digital riflescopes. I am not positive on whether it will be debuted in the US as the N850 or N870 nor am I aware of the official release date.

As a ProStaff member we get an opportunity to use pre-production, early run, units and provide feedback.

NOTE: The scope features independent contrast and brightness adjustments which are not reflected on the video output file, so the image is much better when using the scope - the video should be relied upon as simply an illustration of features and nighttime detection capabilities. Also the nighttime footage was filmed at 100 yards and closer, under normal circumstances a shooter wouldn't want to use any more than the first stage of onboard IR illumination at this range due to IR reflectivity shown as "washout" of the image. I went ahead and demonstrated all three power levels of the onboard IR feature - the digisights are proven performers at ranges beyond 100 yards which in my opinion is where you realize the benefits of the higher IR power levels, especially overlooking wheat/hay fields.

The Pulsar Digisight LRF is the new dedicated night vision riflescope from Pulsar with built in laser range finder.

With a 500x582 sensor and 640x480 OLED display, the Digisight LRF provides high quality night observation with a detection range of up to 400m using the built in Covert IR laser illuminator.

The device has accessory rails for attaching EPS3 battery pack for extended run time, or a high power external IR illuminators.

With a 4.5x optical magnification, the LRF has an incremental digital zoom (0.1x increments), giving you up to 9x magnification at the touch of a button.

Packed with features including 13 user selectable reticles, 3 zero parameter memory, Adjustment of Angle via LRF, and THD for accurate shot alignment via the laser range finder.

400m laser range finding offers precise and accurate range measurement day or night, with incline angle measurement, virtually eliminating the guess work of range finding at night which is often virtually impossible, if not often deceptive.

AOE Function

The AOE function allows you to change angle of target location (angle of elevation)

When the functions is activated, the angle is shown continuously. When the function is disabled, the angle is shown when the rangefinder is operated

THD Function

The THD function allows the user to measure true horizontal distance to a target based on the angle of elevation value

The functions is selected by pressing the controller button, and selecting the THD function to On. Then the THD distance will appear above the distance readings.

Weapon Tilt Indicator

This option allows you to activate or deactivate the weapon tilt function, which indicated by sector arrows on the edge of the horizontal line of reticle.

Arrows show the direction in which you should move your rifle eliminate tilt.

There are three modes of indication:
5 deg to 10 deg - one sector arrow
10 deg to 20 deg - two sector arrow
>20 deg - three sector arrow
Reticle colour and type selection

The option allows you to switch between colour options of reticle and 13 user selectable reticles.

awesome this will most likely be out before the X-Sight ever hits the public market.

Saw it at SHOT and the more refined model recently. A rangefinder at night makes a huge difference. Wish they all had them. Gonna be a great product.

The built-in rangefinder should make a huge difference especially for folks shooting subsonic ammo and be generally useful for anybody hunting in areas where they don't know the differences. I also like the inclination indicators (especially L and R that can really screw up a shot).

Definitely one to watch as it becomes a real world product.

As we all know, this stuff is subject to change. I was told that availability was around the end of the year and price would be around $1,900.00...

Testing has begun for the Digisight LRF (N850) with a full review scheduled for release in late April 2015.

Wow! Yeah, it's more than twice the price of an X-SiGHT, but if it all works, Pulsar wins.

Yep...it works!

Unfortunately I made a rookie mistake this weekend and had my LOCK switch engaged on the UNV MDVR which will not record what you think you're recording, so I don't have the recorded video to pair with the following. But look up a few posts for examples of the recorded video quality, I think you'll SEE that the viewfinder is much cleaner, clearer, and brighter than the recorder videos
