Guys,
For those who have scopes on your .22 what kind of scope do you top it with?
Thanks,
Mel

I bought a weaver 2-7 rimfire for my new bolt action 22. I am not that impressed. I wish I would have bought the Leupold instead.

I've got an older Leupold on mine and am thinking about putting a Conquest I have in the safe on it.

I think a serious .22 needs a serious scope. I gave up on the cheap $29, 7/8" rimfire scopes years ago.
On my two .22s with scopes, one wears a 2x7 Leupold. The other has a 1.5x6 Fujinon. Ideally, a .22 scope should be parallax-adjusted to 50 yards, but I think the usual 100-yd parallax setting is OK for casual plinking and squirrel hunting. Now if you shoot a tricked-out Anschutz(sp?), you already have your scope....

I like the $100 Nikon fixed 4x scope, great clarity.

A 2-7 is just about perfect. I have some old Leupolds.

I like the recommendation of 2-7 power scopes but my Zeiss Conquest that I'm thinking of putting on it is a 3.5-10X44 because it's better than what's on it and it's just gathering dust in my gun safe.

I do think the 2-7'sare just about right for a 22, but recently I moved one of them to the wife's tiny little BL-22 micro and bought myself a new 3-9 Nikon with BDC for 22lr. Nice scope, though it's a bit larger than the Leupold 2-7. I like the BDC, which can be useful on a rainbow trajectory 22lr. So, a 3.5-10 should also be workable. Try it and see.

AO is a useful feature for rimfires. My bolt action is capable of shooting flies at 50 yards so I put a VX-III 4.5-14 AO on it. I don't believe in cheap scopes on good .22s.

If you're shooting plain ol cheap bulk ammo, any scope will do. Scope accuracy details won't matter if ammo can only shoot 2" @ 50.
IF you're after 1/2" accuracy or better, you'll need target-grade /equivalent ammo (namely subsonic) and a 3x9 AO scope at minimum if you want accuracy at any other than just 50 yards (non AO is fixed at 50yrds for rimfire grade scopes and at 100yrd for centerfire scopes)' google ' 22lr Parallax ' to understand value of AO.
