I am having Chad build me a 16" 6.5 creedmoor bolt action Tikka that will have a suppressor on it. I will keep in the truck most of the time. I am looking at scopes and am wanting something small and durable. I have been looking at the Vortex 1-8 strike eagle. I know it is an AR scope, but what do you guys think about using it in this situation?

It would be very handy for what you are wanting. I think 1-8 makes a very versatile scope for under 300 yards

Not a bad pick. If you wouldn't mind the extra expense, Burris has an XTR II in a similar magnification range. It would be a better scope all around. If memory serves, the 2-10X is less money, I would look hard at that option.

I've made hits at 500 yards on 6X, so with 8-10X, you can stretch out on a hog or coyote if needed.

I am about to mount a Premier Arms 1-8 scope on one of my AR's to start shooting with. I think it is a great size scope for close in and quick shots.

I would look beyond that vortex and jump into a 2x10 like the SHV

The Burris xtr 1x8 is made in Japan where others are made in Philippines

If it is a true truck gun I would want robust but not bulky in a short rifle

The SWFA 3-9HD is worth looking at.

Depends on budget but for a beater vortex diamondback is a pretty good buy if you're not trying to get way out there.

I think a 1-8 is a perfect choice for that gun.

Since I am spending your money I would say you have to get a schmidt bender (and let me borrow it) but if it were my money I would think a strike eagle would be perfect for that scenario.

Solid recommendation. Like Jason, that is where I would gravitate towards as well.

I’d get a Leupold VX-3i 2.5-8x36.

Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.
