Well, I was thinking of a .270 Weatherby Mag 130 Grain bullets.
I was thinking that instead of using the scale that the scope is calibrated for, I could create my own scale at the range by sighting it in and testing the impact points relative to the dots at different ranges.
I guess I could try the math to figure out what it should be on paper and then verify at the range.

You could do that. I have a Burris 3-9x40 with their Ballistic Plex reticle. Turns out if I sight my 6.8 in dead on at 100, the second stadia down is dead on at 250.

The black powder models, like the shotgun scopes have the parallax set to 75 yards. It's a very bad fit for a flat shooter like a .270 Wby.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I actually have the crossbow model and like it very much. I think it a quality scope, just the wrong application.

No bad news, just information. I do not own the scope, just looked like a value option for a BBC reticle. I knew there was something going on because I could not find many examples of people using it in this fashion. I knew about the parallax problem but it slipped my mind for some reason.
I will look into a scope with a LR reticle.
