I recently decided i may be replacing a scope i have on one of my rifles. I bought the rifle used and since i bought it, it will not hold a sight and seems to sometimes vary as much as 6 inches from where it was when i put the rifle up. The scope is a Leupold and does not click at all when turning the button to change the sighting. A family member of mine told me to look into a brand of scope called "Swift" and that it is apparently fairly hard to find or so he was told by the gunsmith he got his from. What i would like to know is if any of you have had any experience with a Swift scope and what yall thought of it. I dont want to break the bank on a scope, though i do want to get a good one for the rifle, as i want it to be a quality backup if i go hunting and a friend has something go wrong with his and cant use his it would be available. Thanks in advance!!!

If it's a gold ring Leupold, the factory will fix the scope for free; all you pay is the s&h. I'd call Leupold support before I bought a new scope.

+1 on what syncerus said about Leupolds customer service and their lifetime warranty. Older VariX II Leupolds did not have a locking mechanism on the elevation & windage knobs, but used a slide adjustment that sometimes would move under recoil or being dropped. I was taught to use the plastic handle of a screw driver to tap the adjustment knob after moving it to "settle" the crosshairs into the new position. Give Leupold the chance to make it right.

I had a 4x12x40 A/O Swift Premier Grade for a long time. Decent glass, about 90-92% light gathering rating, never had a hitch with it on any of the 4-5 rifles it ran on, and always held Zero. Quality wise it is about like a Leupold Rifleman/Nikon Prostaff 1 and in that 4x12 model ought to cost high $100's to $200 new. Look at SWFA's website for accurate pricing and a complete description. Another online vendor that sells a lot of Swifts is EABCO.com.

1, check/retorque all bolts/screws that mount the stock to the rifle.
2, check/retorque base mounts
3, check/retorque rings, possibly check ring alignment and lap if necessary.
4, shoot the Leupold and see if problem occurs again.
5, mount a backup scope and see if the problem occurs.
6, send Leupold in for free service.
