On the ring cap screws most recommend around 20 and 40 for the base screws if I remember right.

base to action 6x40 screws.... no more then 20 inlbs.... with locktite. 8x40's you can go anther 5-10lbs but still use locktite

ring cap screws depends on how many screws there are 1,2,4,6.....??????

Ring caps: 15-20 in/lb
Base to receiver: 20-25 in/lb
Ring cross bolt: 50-65 in/lb

DEPENDS ON THE rings!

For instance, Leupold Mark 4 rings-to-base recommends 60 or 65 (and other similar ones do as well).

BUT... leupold PRW only recommend 22 (-ish, IIRC) per screw, and there are two on each ring.

Can easily snap a screw in half if you try to put 60 pounds of torque on a 22 pound screw... just did that a few weeks ago.

Depends on the brand. Warne Maxima is 25 inch pounds for base and ring screws. Burris PEPR is 65 for base and 20 for ring.

Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.
