I've read about them and have been considering putting one on my Custom and AR Creedmoors. How critical are they to have for long range shooting/accuracy?
Recommendations for 34mm or 30mm?
Thanks,
Mel

Very critical for precision work....under 300 yards probably not real critical on most game size animals (not counting p'dogs).
I have a cheap one that mounts on my rail under the scope. I have the opinion that a level is a level, you just need to figure out where you want to be looking at it and buy that one.

Critical for distance shots.
Once I started using one my hit percentage raised ouside 600 yards. I have a U.S. Optics version as well as a JEC Customs, both swivel models. The JEC is superior in quality and accuracy at the same price. And it's made in Texas!

Is the us optics one easier to remove when not needed?

The JEC is knurled so no wrench. The US Optics takes an allen wrench. Both brands I have are the folding variety so I rarely take them off the pic rail.
