Does anyone have any experience planting these around dfw. I'm one hour now of Fort Worth. Wanting to plant some. Not sure if it is too late

Family place has planted them along the Red, grew ok with moisture, deer liked them, benefit turkeys too.
Not sure when they planted as we are not living on the place.

I have not tried it in that area but have done some in Mississippi. If you get the summer rains they should make well but we know how that can go. I

Not too late to plant. Never have done well with less than 10 acres of beans as smaller plots have been cleared off by deer and turkey within 2 weeks of them sprouting out of the ground. Bigger plots around 10 acres or larger have been cleaned up around the edges but not totally whipped out like my smaller plots. I

They will grow if you get the rain. You are not planting for a cash crop just food plot. The size of the plot will be as critical as the amount of rain.

I planted in southern ok at the beginning of the month, they are doing fine but have gotten some good rain since planting. I wouldn’t plant unless there is some rain in the forecast. But as STX said, size of plot is going to be critical. I would do no smaller than 2-3 acres and more if possible. Deer will find them and eat them and graze down a small plot pretty quick. I have 4 one acre plots and they are all nipped to ankle height, so next year I will plant bigger plots (was my first year doing spring/summer plots).
