No pics, but saw some clumpy heads this weekend, including three or four large, mature-type bodies. They're off to a good start but if we don't get more rain soon it will be an ~average year. Anybody else seeing anything?

I had 6 bucks at the feeder in front of my house yesterday evening in Goliad County. 2 of those looked to be 3 or 4 yr olds. 3 of the group showed growth that already about 1.2" past their browtines. All the bucks were in great shape. Brush is green and new growth has stopped. Still quite a bit of weeds but with the 90+ degree temps and lack of rain things are fading fast. I had to fill protein feeders again this morning so that is increasing again now.

I expect it to be an average to below average year in Mills. We are worse now than last year at this time and last year was pretty bad. We are at 7.5" of rain and almost half the year gone. I think the fawn crop will be low as well.

I just checked and updated my rainfall totals for the year, 5.3" year to date. We average 32"/year in my area. Not looking good at all for this year if it does not start raining in a week or two.

My deer are starting to hit the protein hard. I’ve got one that is evidently sick, cause he’s a lot poorer shape than his buddies.

Wow; only 5.3 inches. I knew you guys were in a drought but I had no idea it was that severe.
