It's been a crazy season for me and I'm starting to panic because I've yet to do ANY good in the deer woods. Bow hunted all Oct and finally had a 145-155" nine point patternd "on the place I've hunted the last 7 years" and on opening morning of rifle season I find a note in my stand saying to call a number... I call land owner and he knows nothing of it. Long story short, the guys ranch hand talked him into me not needing to be hunting there anymore and was told to pack my stuff or he would dump it all out on the highway! I had done nothing wrong and have picked up truck loads of trash from their fields to keep out of their tractors and ALWAYS left it better than I found it, but apparently that wasn't enough. Oh yeah, this same guy just happened to "give my box blind, feeder, and trail camera to a buddy last year because he didn't know who it belonged to...." So I've reorted back to my only option, public land with my bow and it's been crazy slow. Got me a new promising area scouted out last week and hopefully can get it done this weekend. Anyone else starting to feel the heat?? LOL bang

Dang bobcat that's a tough one. I can actually say this year all the heat is off of me! Feels good too. Kinda sad it's over but I'll still set and see what comes out. Hopefully bust some pigs and yotes.

Multiple times and left several voice mails with No response. I'm just cutting my losses and moving on because I'm to the point where I no longer feel comfortable taking my 7 year old son with me with everything that has been said and done and no deer hunt is worth putting his safety at risk.

I do love it! I've had better experiences than some have. Born and raised in NETX, that's where my own land is.

Not really. If I don't see another shooter here, I've got an open invitation to hunt on a friend's MLD place in Somervell county. He's covered in deer.

Figuratively speaking, I’ve got a rope on a couple shooter bucks but still looking to grab the other end of it. Now is when you have to choose the stand to hunt wisely.

Good luck all.

Only had one bad year. Lost one and saw a giant at moms which I dont hunt.
Tell you a comfortable stragety. Start out in September hunting hogs and glassin deer. Take it light! Remember hunters with friends have more pressure with the reputation to be kept or the manly competition. Friends are good though, more hunting oppurtunities. Dont beat yourself up in the hot bug ridden October month. Ol bucky can smell your Stink!! Hunt the best days. The end of Oct and the begining of Dec. can be the toughest. Jan is nice. Green! Think green. If your narrow minded on one spot it can be your failed lesson. Old neighbor hunted the same 60 forever. Hardly ever had consistancy. Take it light and next year may be better. Remember patience is key. Play the moon and barametric pressure. Deer love bluebird cold clear days. Moon is growing too. May be a all day hunt tomorrow. coach

Recently got a gym membership, strange folks! I like to show up the roid zombies with my full motion curls with the 55lb. bells. Not their cheater short stroked light weights. It's holarious.

No pressure here!
I hunted as much as I could during the hot weather of October with my thermacel nearby. Had a lot of small bucks and young does and fawns, but no shooters.
Did take a doe at the end of archery season, but didn't hunt that much during the gun season, and when I did, again never saw anything I wanted to tag.
My neighbor makes sausage and usually needs about 3 deer, so I always donate some meat and get some smoked links in return, so again, no pressure.
It was a good season, just not great as in past years!

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

glad to see i'm not the only one with low results;

started out with 6 possible weekends planned; i didn't get drawn for any TPWD
hunts, but both my boys did. Had to miss one of my boys draw hunt chances in Nov. because
i planned the recovery period from some minor surgery badly & couldn't take him.

We also hunted another place twice in Nov., but passed a decent doe cause two fawns
were with her (maybe not hers?) but the management lectured us about shooting small deer (MLD place)
that won't happen again.

one son got a decent 4 pt. from a state WMA near the coast in Oct (African style hunting-90's)
but that's it for the year.

Saw alot we couldn't shoot & got busted on the last
light of the last hunt; missed taking a shot at the biggest doe i've seen

already planning for next year.

No panic here, have seen some nice ones just not the one I was hoping for.
Will shoot a doe or spike during the extended period if I do not get lucky this next weekend up

Shucks, no panic here, 3 does each for the wife and me. And that took two weekends, could have done it in one weekend but we knew had 12 weeks to get them.

I just don't believe deer hunting rates panic mode...I've only taken one cull buck and a red fox this year with one weekend to go. I'm pretty sure I will take one more...hopefully a mature ten I saw a couple of weeks ago and passed on but if I don't get anything else there isn't anything to panic about...probably a reflection of age.

Well glad I’m not the only one too and congrats to you guys making it happen! Saturday morning and Sunday evening I drew 1st blood with my new bow at the new area I found last week.... Too bad it wasn’t from a deer lol, put a spot and stalk on 2 groups of hogs in the timber and busted 2- 200 pound sals. Hopefully they will get the hint and find somewhere else to roam!

I did it!!! No, he's not king kong of the forest but being on public land, last weekend of season, HORRIBLE genetics, and bow hunting, I let him have it! I'm proud of him and can't wait for that backstrap... Here's to scraping a HORID season and making something happen! cheers

Maybe "panic" wasn't the best choice of words. As much time, effort, and preparation I put into my season and hunting my 1 and only hit list buck from early summer to having my lease pulled out from under me and having to scrap my season on public "archery only" I was worried I wouldn't have food on the table for my family and nothing to show my friends nor stories.
