Any hunters here from Coleman County TX? Curious to hear from others that have hunted here. Near Ballinger.

I don't hunt in Coleman County but I do hunt in Runnels county just south of the town square in Ballinger. the north property line of our lease is the Colorado River. This will be my fith year out there and I enjoy it we have lots of deer, too many turkeys, and the quail have made a rebound the last couple of years. If you want a processor Owens is right down from the gin and next to the gorcery store and I have liked what they have done. I dont know if Lane is the Game Warden for Coleman county or not but if so he will stop in from time to time and we have never had a problem with him. He lives there in Ballinger.

I've hunted in northern Coleman County. Good deer. Shot a couple of 140 class deer and there were 150s on tne ranch. Good turkey, quail, dove and hogs..

We had a lot of dove last year but they were all safe from me. We will see what this year brings planning on going opening weekend to fix the feeder and get rid of some coons that keep ripping the wires out of the motor. Also see if the hogs are coming across the river.

Our lease is in east Coleman, and the deer numbers are decent. Lots of 8 pointers, way too many turkeys, quail numbers are rising, and not many dove. A few too many pigs, but not the worst. 135 to 145 class deer are about the biggest we've got in our area.

We don't hunt them hard enough. I don't think any one went out this spring to hunt them I have tried the last couple of years but never am able to get out there in the spring with taking care of the wife. We have been sitting at our stands and have had groups of 30 turkeys at four stands at the same time and we have at least eight stands. We have taken some out during deer season and they are quite tasty.

Where are you at in SE Coleman Co? We are located just south of Santa Anna. How many acres do you have?

Hunted on the same place in Ballinger, north of town for 20 years now.

I love it out there.

I have to wear sunglasses into the woods, because the deer would recognize me, an just surrender with their hooves up.

I grew up in North Runnels and South Taylor county. Deer have been getting better and better. Great dove, and quail-and too many pigs where I'm at--turkey--not so much...

Welcome...

Ed

Hunted a few miles north of talpa for more than a decade and the turkey pop was astonishing. At times we cold be in blinds with hundreds of hens at feeders. Good deer, mostly 120s, with a few larger.

Send some of them turkeys farther west, we are about 10 miles west of Ballinger, We see a few turkeys, but we have plenty of deer, No bruisers, but enough to fill the freezers every year.
