Does anyone have any experience as to the quality of deer north of Cisco? The place is between Cisco and Breckenridge. I was just curious as to the genetics and potential a guy could expect there. I know what we've been told and have heard a few things here and there. The place is set up excellent, cover, open, and water all over it (but no wheat fields directly on it) and is 4,000 acres. I think it has a lot of potential. I just wanted to confirm if I could. Also wondering what #'s looked like as well as to how many hunters per xxx acres you could put on it to properly manage it. It'll be managed for trophies with some sound harvest objectives once I get my hands around what to expect and some information.

Me personally, I'd look to put 6-8 people on 4,000 acres. 150s can be shot, that country can grow bigger deer but it depends on how it was managed before you

I'm 7 miles south of Breckenridge. Yes, if managed right you can occasionally shoot 150" bucks. 130-140" deer will be the norm.

I think I might know the ranch. Is it south of double mountain on the west side of 183?

to me its very ranch specific in this area. theres a ton of recent high fenced places going up north of cisco so if youre lucky enough to be next door to one of those you should have a little more say in what deer you have and how they develop. Water is key in that area and if you are on Hubbards creek, it has a reputation for putting out some pretty large bucks. my guess is the average mature buck will be a 135" 9 point, with one or two deer per section going over 150". Based on my 16 years of experience huting near Moran, 160 is the common top end of the range, though we hear of the occasional freak over 170"
