First time deer hunter, new Dad also and would like to get more into hunting deer. Have hunted plenty of hogs over time and dove/quail. Anybody have any recommendations for a first time hunt package for deer? Cheap deer lease spots? Have been looking at Prone outfitters for this upcoming fall.

Depending on your location, you may be able to hunt on public land. Also, look into the annual hunting permit through tpwd. It's $50 a year and you can hunt on some state parks. Lots cheaper than a lease.

The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

welcome to the addiction.

Look in the outfitters section for cull buck and management hunts. Also meat hunts for axis does are delicious, year round and pretty reasonable on cost.

Make sure what ever you do, do not send money until you ask for and are provided multiple references from past hunters that have hunted with them.

If they give you an excuse of why they can't provide that, hang up and move to the next one on your list. up

I think that hunting depend on your location. You should bring
- 1. Choose Your Weapon
- 2. A License to Kill
- 3. Dress for Success
- 4. Eyes Like a Hawk
- 5. Know Your Distance
- 6. Speak the Language
- 7. Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark

Located about 20 miles north of the Bryan/College Station area. Thank you to everybody who posted/responded. Actually have a place going to be hunting on the Brazos River. Now just debating around what time I should put corn in the feeder. Tends to be a lot of wild hogs down there though....

If you can, build a pen around your feeder to keep hogs out and throw corn all year. Or start in September
