finally took a deer with my 338 lm with 285 amax last night! deer #5 so far this season. exit hole had blood splatter 8 feet away from her

Good job, heck of blast
I did something similar with my 308 last year. The HP bullet caught a rib going in, and it blew an exit hole like yours with an explosion of body parts at the feeder. The doe ran right at me and I could see the 8" of missing flesh on the exit clearly. She continued past the blind for another 150+ yards. Overall run was about 300 yards.
She was missing most of her lungs, part of her heart and liver. There wasn't a drop of blood for a trail. I was glad I was able to watch her run, it would have been a tough tracking.

mine fell over and never moved. another doe was with her and watched for a few seconds and then she walked off

Good cartridge, good shot, good job! I use a custom Remington 700 in .300 Weatheby Magnum most of the time, DRT, seldom have to track them with good shot placement. Like you we can reach way the hell out there if needed.
