Might, should be around the time of the secondary rut. All you can do is try.

I got two 3 yr olds to come in the other day with rattling and had buck urine out... they ran in quick then when noticed no one was there they started making scrapes and rubs all over the place

I would rattle post rut. Less does in heat and more buck competition.

If they're grouping back up, there will be plenty of sparring to figure out pecking order so rattling won't be something they shouldn't be hearing. Older bucks in a group will come break that mess up if it gets too bad from what I've seen over the years.

Has it even started yet?

If you want some friendly advice, get a haircut and take a bath. You wouldn't get hassled so much.

Diablodog I hunt just south of Knox City and the bucks were chasing hard last weekend. I had a doe show up 30 feet from the blind with her tongue hanging out and belly breathing. I thought she might be sick but then decided to wait on a shot to see if there was a buck chasing her. Sure enough a mature 8 followed her path but his entire left main beam was gone just below the brow tine. I also found a scrape where a doe had just peed in it. Scooped up some of the sand and put it in a mock scrape at my blind (yes I know it was gross but I had a glove on). I had 3 bucks come in looking but all of them were too young to shoot. I cant wait to go back and try it again to see if the big boys are still chasing.

Thanks for the answers. I went yesterday morning , Northern part in the canyons. I saw three bucks , none responded at all . I had to take a long shot at an 8 point and it worked .

I do not see how this is worthless without pics . I asked a question and got answers . I fail to see how my question would have been improved with photos ? I fully understood the answers , even without photos .
