This thread seems to come up every year but, what if your going to sit all day long. I feel like foods like beef jerky and chocolate have a strong odor and could chase off game. So for the guys that sit for long hours what do you bring to eat?

I do not take anything much at all with me, every once in a great while I will take an apple or orange to the stand. Now in West Texas I when I am riding around in my Ranger I will snack on either jerky, peanuts, snack crackers, granola type bars, trail mix, or dried sausage somedays. Out there I am hunting all day long except for when we stop for lunch. Daylight till dark is a long time between breakfast, lunch and supper.

Hard boiled eggs, trail mix, snack crackers, jerky, protein bars and sometimes a sandwhich or two like chicken or tuna salad. Not worried about smell as long as wind is right.

Thanks again guys. Because of the landscape I really don't have many choices on stand location.

I usually bring a sammich or granola bar. I don't gun hunt much but in the evenings I'll pack a couple beers too. I hunt with guys that smoke in their stands and have plenty of luck some how.

If I stay all day I fix sandwiches and take a plastic jar filled with dry cereal to snack on through out the day. If it is cold I can heat up food in the blind. I can take a container of chili or stew and heat it by sitting it on top of the heater I have in the blind. The smell of the chili or stew has never seemed to mess with the deer, but in the blind I am well above the feeder. Beside there are 4 houses within a mile in all directions, so the deer have been accustomed to all kinds of human smells since birth.

Now if I have one of the grandkids with me, the feed bag can be like a grocery store. It will include all of the above, plus candy of all kinds, potato chips, Fritos, cheese sticks, pudding snack cans, and no telling what else. But then with the noise they can make, I am just in the stand, not really hunting.

Everyone has their own methods on what they do and don't. I just try not to over think it and enjoy it!

coffee, smokes, sunflower seeds, cough drops, and when not going to shoot a gun beer (taking pics) I go out and just sit and enjoy. I have been out there and had deer with in 25 yards with me having a cup of coffee and smoking. I do work out there all year, so I think I do not bug them to much.

I started carrying broccoli, carrots and little tomatoes as well as homemade jerky (salt, brownsugar and blackpepper don't smell very strong) Lol... The kids asked me to stay healthy since my father-in-law started having health issue and one of our hunting buddies had a stroke (recovered quite well). Heck I even lost about 15 pounds. banana

I pick up a few double cheeseburgers from Micky D's the night before. Toss in the fridge at the house and warm them up on my Mr Buddy while in the stand.

24/7...why are you doing that to yourself?

Rice and beans. Brown rice and black beans. Not the canned stuff. November is hard core sitting all or most of day. Good luck to all.

I take whatever I want and a roll of toilet paper. I'm not concerned with smells. I've hunted many ground blinds and had coffee with deer 25 yards away and they never cared
