It can be a combo of both genetics and nutrition in some locations. In some areas it will be genetics. Also some bucks just tend to break off their browtines very quickly after rubbing the velvet off.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

Agree with STX, I have even seen both traits in the same herd. I even have it here, some have great brows, others don't. Nice looking bucks BTW

you know I always wondered if the type of tree makes a difference with areas breaking bow tine a lot... I know some areas wont ever grow good brows cuz of genetics but think about a deer rubbing on preferred trees like small soft pine or cedar trees vs trees like oak and what not... just a thought.. I know any pine around my area will have a rub on it... saplings are lucky to survive more than a few years... im sure it mainly because of the sap coming off the tree helping with bugs and maybe even healing but maybe there is more to it

Genetics most likely, that's how the majority of bucks are on my place in Montague. Every now and then there will be a good one with long brows.

I believe Nav is on to something about trees they use. Looks like you've got a nice place up in Jack cty. Good luck this season.
