Hey guys have any of you hunted Unit 85 It's mainly private land, however I have a connection with a small outfitter who was borned and raised in the area. I hunted with him in 2012 when he guided for another outfitter.
Thanks for your responses in advamce

Hunted 83 to the west of 85 in 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 seasons on Private land on west side of La Veta pass. Both times it was 2nd rifle. Elk pretty abundant. LOTS of great sleeper mulies!!!!!! Most of the elk were killed during muzzle loader when the bulls were still bugling and in the high country. Elk were pretty dang timid on our real estate. Even worse the second trip. It was a hunting club style ranch that had built up to approximately 50 cabins with 15 or so full time residents. About 28,000 acres purchased by some real estate tycoon. He sold it off in 40 acre sections. If you did not post your property you could hunt the rest of the properties that did not post theirs and visa-versa except what the tycoon kept for his own leisure. Originally established as a hunting club turned HOA in the freakin mountains of Colorado. Go figure.
Anyway sold our stake and moved on. Dad hunted it for about 5 seasons before he started taking me in 2011. Let me know if I can help in any other way!
