This was in South Texas and it weighed 150 pounds. It was about double the weight of the Hill Country yearling buck I shot earlier in the season, based on lifting into the vehicle. (I put the yearling in by myself, this buck took two of us.)

For those who have actually put them on the scale, what is your heaviest so far and what part of the state did you take it?

No, "live" weight. (Seems odd to call a dead deer as live weight.)

189 dressed from Tyler Co in early Oct. Add 22% to that and it's 230.5. He was a chunk, <13" wide river bottom deer. On our place in Nac Co I've shot a 155, 187 & 197 on the hoof.

Buddy shot one that was 205 dressed in Wheeler Co. Processor put it on his scale when we dropped it off. My best has been 191 in Donley Co.

Largest I have killed myself was 192 dressed weight in La Salle County in South Texas. I use 16% off of live weight for dressed so that would put him at 230-231 lbs. Largest I have seen were both 208 field dressed on ranches I managed. One was killed opening weekend of November and the other Thanksgiving weekend. Those deer were in the 255-260 live weight range using 16% off live weight. I have seen quite a few in the 190-208 dressed weight range over the years also. Heaviest in Kendall County was 159 lbs field dressed. Heaviest so far in Goliad County was 139 lbs field dressed. Largest field dressed buck I have heard off was from Webb County and entered in a deer contest in a very wet year. He dressed 219 IIRC and was a toad of a buck for South Texas. All the above were weighed on a scale.

Yeah, my buck was in La Salle County, too.

If any of you are outfitters who can put me on a larger buck than 150 pounds, PM me for next year.

I was in the stand with my oldest grandson when he was 9 and he killed an old management 8 that tipped the scales at 224 field dressed in Collingsworth county. Yes we put it on the scales.

Shot one that was 210 live weight in Sabinal. It was the heaviest buck they'd ever taken, though his antlers weren't a lot to look at.
