Has the magic started yet in S-TX? Just wondering so I can get more PO'ed since I can't make a hunt until Jan. 10th. Keep updating.

I hunt in atascosa,co just above live oak county, couple days ago when the weather was cooler the bucks were running around, now that warmer weather moved in it has slowed down alot.

Whats your typical best week of the season? DO you usually have any luck in the late season or does it get slow as the season winds down?

About this time last year the rut was going strong we would use our grunt calls and mature mature would come running in, this year totally it's almost like a switch was turned off seeing nothing but small bucks an were an AR county so it's been slow and long hours in the blind deer have been hitting our feeders but just for a few nibbles and they leave. So I hoping we get an artic blast to get rid of this green vegetation before the second rut starts which is usually the first two weeks of january. But yes the late season is pretty good if everything has had a hardfreeze they hit the corn hard not common our lease which is about 160acres to see about 20 deer in a sitting. Hope this helps

I noticed the same thing as far as the deer hitting the corn when I went in Nov. Two mature bucks were killed after thanksgiving weekend and both were swoll up and fat, fattest I've seen literally chunks of fat were falling off we were skinning them. The green is good for the deer but makes it a little harder to hunt.
