Well, I had a good season and saw a lot of future trophies. The deer that had double drop tines last year only had a single drop tine this year. I believe this deer is only 4 1/2 years old since I have been watching him for the last 3 years. He was a regular at my blind and I said goodbye to him on the last day of the season. stxranchman, He made it another year. up

I was seeing this deer almost every hunt early in the season and I should have shot him. I think the ranch behind me took him out one day when I saw them high racking. He was a pig.

The guy that hunts near me on our ranch and I have been watching this deer for the last three years. He has a lot of potential.

I ended up shooting this management buck because he was acting very aggressive towards the drop tine buck and the split G3 buck. He will not be messing with them any more.

Yes, it was nasty outside when I videoed this.

very nice, thanks for sharing. the drop tine buck and the split G3 deer are going to be fantastic bucks over the next few years. they already are, to be honest.

what age do y'all typically start targeting trophy bucks? and, if you don't mind me asking, what county was this in.

We try to wait until they are 5 1/2 - 7 1/2. This is in Val Verde county on a low fence ranch. I'm pretty sure both of those deer are 4 1/2.

Thanks. My Dad's lease is about a 10,000 acre low fence ranch in northern val verde county near Juno. They've got a lot of good, mature bucks running around out there. He missed (4 times, haha, gun was out of sight) what would of been his best buck ever a few weeks ago. I wish I could go more, but between living in DFW, hunting my lease up here, work and traveling for thanksgiving and xmas its difficult to make that trip. I need to make sure I get out there next season - I haven't been either of the last 2 years. Its a really fun place to hunt.

Good luck connecting with one of those 2 deer next year or after that, they are going to be a couple of great bucks.
