 East Texas double for father/son

As you all know, it's never easy conquering a free range, East Texas mature buck in our hardwoods and creek bottoms. This year, my 14-year old son and I have been blessed to do it twice - him with a bow on October 12 and me with the smoke pole on November 20. I had bow hunted every outing until last Sunday, but that 25 degree, frost heavy morning had my 55 year old bones in a box blind. I'm very happy to report that my son beat me by less than an inch - his buck was 148 3/8 and mine was 147 4/8. Nothing like seeing your kids whip your tail, despite getting a great buck of your own! I wish everyone success for the rest of the season and please celebrate every moment afield with family and friends in God's greatest creation.
