Can anyone tell me if deer hunting is any good in this area? What other hunting is this area good for?

The immediate area around arroyo city and south of the arroyo itself is mostly ag land. But a reasonable radius around arroyo city is classic south Texas whitetail country. Great duck and dove hunting too. Plenty of redfish to hunt as well. I believe the Laguna atascosa wildlife refuge still has draw hunts...

I think the property has fence line that borders the Laguna Atascosa Wildlife refuge. Might go take a look at it this weekend. Does this help narrow down how good the deer hunting may be?

Deer hunting in the refuge should be great, just doubt many folks get to access it. North and west of the refuge boundary are big ranches like the Yturria and Norias division of the King. All world class whitetail hunting.

Yeah it would and generally, the guess would be it is good. A lot of it depends on the size of the place and it's cover. Still, the fact remains that the refuge fence is hunted hard and has been since there was a refuge.

There is nilgai, javelina and hogs as well. Just depends on the place. You leasing or buying?

Neither, but a friend is looking to buy some land.

It's a great place. I used to stay there right down the street from the refuge. We used to see monster bucks right there by the houses. 150s should be easy to kill from what I saw

Depending where you are. My dad and i looked at a ranch there, but the cost of running electricty and some other infrastructure put it out of our range. The general area because of location has some great deer and duck. Your basically surrounded by great hunting ranches as stated before, and Nilgai populations are very healthy to boot. Also, if you familiarize your self with the area. Its very easy to catch nilgai off the shorelines of public and private land in public water.

Scratch this place off the list. My friend went and took a look at it. The Neighbors run a hunting outfit and have placed blinds and feeders about every 100 yds along the fence line. No go.
