I'm hunting this afternoon, considering some doe estrus. Any thoughts? Does the Doe estrus scare of any does? Hunting in East Texas.

For me it has been hit or miss. The times it has worked, it seemed mostly to bring in young bucks.

That's what I'm reading. I'm considering taking a couple big bags of apples out with me and just throwing them out around the feeder and seeing what happens...

A couple of years ago I did a test of various doe urine products. They do seem to work sometimes, sometimes not. Interestingly enough, I peed along a path and I had more bucks following that scent that the commercial products. And they really liked my at-the-time GF's spot where she peed.

I've tried it several times. The last time I used it I remember seeing fewer mature does and only little bucks. I'd rather have the mature does coming around consistently than Tinks in the air.

I tried the apple thing last year with no luck. They sat around the feeder for 3-4 weeks before rotting and eventually withered away.

Go to a deer processor and ask if you can cut tarsal glands off of hanging deer. I do that and place them around my stand and out in my shooting lanes. I had 2 bucks come straight down-wind to me this evening and never knew I was there. I keep mine in a jar and take them out when I get to the field. When I'm done hunting for the day, I put them back in the jar and put them in the refrigerator (my wife hates that part). It beats everything but a doe in heat.

We have put out apples many times over the years. Everyone keeps swearing by them so we have been silly enough to think they would work, so we kept trying. Whole and even cut up. They dried up and withered away.
I tried doe urine once and I didn't have any luck, rattling worked better.
