With no brows age wouldn't matter to me. For a six he ain't too bad looking, shoot that sucker then measure width.

Typically deer with missing brow tines don't develop into as nice a deer as their counterparts that that have brow tines, seen as a cull like some view spikes etc.

So does this deer need to be shot? I'd hate to take him young if he'd be bigger next year. Just don't know what to do with him. Hopefully bigger deer show up on camera between now and the bow opener. But this deer has been on all 3 cameras we have out on our property so he frequents the place often

Not yet. This is the best looking deer so far and he best year of velvet pics we've gotten ever and we've only had cameras out 10 days or so

Don't let my definition of a cull change how you look at this buck. If you like him take him, if you want him to stay that's ok too. No brows at my place typically don't ever grow them or they get really weak brows at 5/6, so I cull them to allow my better deer to breed and eat.

Time will tell if you let him grow, shoot him and never know.

Have seen some that never grew brow tines and others that had them some years and had brows other years

Been in my wife's family for 22 years. I've been married for 8 years so that's how long I've been hunting out there.

I have never seen a middle-aged buck without brow tines develop them later in life. That deer is 3 or 4 years old and about 16 6/8" inside spread. He would have been dead at my place if he had no brows his second year. I zoomed in on the little buck in the background and couldn't see any brows on him either, even though the camera angle is no good.

It's a genetic trait that you don't want in your deer herd. I use that term lightly not knowing, acreage, fencing, neighbors, etc. It may be a quite prevalent trait that you can't do much about.

Couple years ago we had 3 bucks that were slick 6's with no brows. One got shot as a 6 that year and was smaller antlerwise compared to same age bucks. The other two eluded us. The next year one was a carbon copy of the year before but slightly bigger and the other grew browtines, but they were so short I doubt they wouldn't make an inch each. My wife shot the one that was still a 6 as her first buck and the one that started his brow tines we let walk as he had pretty exceptional tine length for our place. We will see what he made of himself this year with all the good eats and a little more time.

Typically we shoot them as culls if its at least their second set of antlers.

This is the largest buck I've seen with hardly any brow tines!

I have seen bucks that had no brow tines grow them later as they got older. Most were very short BT and barely measure. I have seen far more never grow them. Here is a buck I have seen for 3 yrs now and have expect to see him this year in the next month or so. If he is ever going to grow BT this is the year with all the rain we have had.

If you like the deer, kill him. If you want him to get older and mature, then wait. You should never allow anyone to tell you what to kill or not to kill. Your choice, not anyone else.

We'll see what happens come 9/27. Like I said hopefully bigger bucks will show up on camera. I've had a couple decent ones larger Han this show up but never in person. This is probably the widest buck we've ever had on camera
