In case you don't visit the exotic section. Check out this thread and tell me what you think a deer like this would sell for?

What ever the going rate is for any other deer in the area.

Nothing rare about black / dark whitetails in that area & in several other areas.

I think it's just the opposite. White ones are the rare ones.

All above may be right to a degree, but to the right person, could be worth a whole lot.His size is normal, but I'm sure someone will show some real interest.

Melanistic deer are the rarest color phase in white tail deer.

It's worth whatever someone wants to pay. And it should carry a high premium for rarity.

That's a cool looking deer, but, my FIL shot one similar, in Hays county back in the 70s. Funny thing, they seem to be prevalent in certain parts of Hays and Comal counties. I saw 2 that were hit by cars near the town of Fischer, near Wimberley. Not at the same time either. So they can't be too rare. confused2

No one is arguing that they aren't the rarest color phase, just that they are fairly common in a good size area.

They are prevalent in Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Comal, Hays, Travis, Williamson, northern Guadalupe, eastern Kendall, far eastern Gillespie & llano.

If someone wants to pay more for a certain color phase no one is trying to stop them, no different than paying for a certain size set of antlers.

Seeing 2" of snow in San Diego CA is rare, but that doesn't mean much to folks that live around Denver.

Impressive knowledge. I recognize only 1 county out of your long list.
